Google Drive
Sync Google Drive folders and files into a collection.
The Google Drive connector brings documents from Drive folders into the Collection, with periodic syncing.
The platform has two variants: connecting through the account of whoever configures it, and connecting through a service account, which accesses on behalf of the organization.
Choose the variant
- Personal account: the connector sees what that account sees. Simple to set up, but access dies if the person leaves the company.
- Service account: access belongs to the organization and survives team changes. It requires configuration on the Google Workspace side.
For content a whole team depends on, the second keeps the connector from breaking without warning months later.
Configure
The flow asks for authorization on Google and, after that, for the selection of folders or files to sync.
The platform also offers the Google picker, which requires the VITE_GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID, VITE_GOOGLE_PICKER_API_KEY and VITE_GOOGLE_APP_ID keys configured in the environment. Without them, selection goes through the alternative path.
A permission revoked on Google brings the sync down without changing what was already indexed. The old documents keep answering, now outdated, and the failure only shows up on the connector.
Formats
Native Google documents (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and regular files stored in Drive go through the same extraction path as files uploaded by hand.
Scanned files with no text layer depend on recognition-based extraction and may fail.
