Publish and maintain

The difference between draft and published, and what changes for people already using the agent.

Every Agent has two states. A draft exists only in Admin; a published Agent shows up in the Chat Agent selector for the people in the workspace.

You make the choice in the form footer, with the Publish on save option.

Draft

An Agent saved without publishing is listed under Agents in Admin and doesn't show up for anyone in Chat.

It is where you keep an Agent while you are still tuning the prompt, waiting for a Collection to finish indexing, or waiting for approval from whoever owns the content.

Publish

Checking Publish on save and saving puts the Agent live. It then shows up in the Chat selector for everyone with access to the workspace.

Before publishing, three checks that prevent most problems:

  1. The documents in the attached Collections are Active.
  2. The chosen model is still enabled under Settings › Models.
  3. A real question was tested and the answer matches the source document.

Edit a published agent

Editing and saving an already published Agent updates what is live. There is no parallel version: the change applies to everyone's next conversation.

There is no draft of an already published Agent. Saving a partial change to an Agent in use puts that change into production immediately.

For large changes, the safe path is to duplicate the Agent, adjust the copy as a draft and only then swap it in.

Existing conversations

Changing an Agent doesn't rewrite the past. Old conversations stay in the history as they were, with the answers the Agent gave at the time.

Changing the model, the prompt or the Collections only affects the following messages, including within a conversation that is already open.

Remove

Removing an Agent takes it out of the Chat selector. The conversation history remains under Logs › Conversations, but you can't keep chatting.
