File extractor
Convert files received at the input into text the flow can use.
The File extractor turns raw documents into plain text. PDFs, spreadsheets and images go in as binaries and come out as content a model can read.
It is the first node of practically every flow that processes documents.
Why it is needed
A file that arrives through the Input is a reference to a binary. Connecting that reference straight to an LLM node doesn't deliver the content: the model receives the pointer, not the text.
The extractor bridges that gap, and nothing after it needs to know the original format.
The output
The node returns a list of extracted texts, accessible as {{ extrator_arquivos.contents }}.
It is a list because the Input can receive several files. To process them one by one, connect that list to an Iteration node.
Formats
Files with selectable text come out clean and fast. Scanned documents depend on text recognition, take longer and may fail when the scan quality is low.
A PDF that contains only the image of a scanned page may return empty text without an explicit error. The flow carries on with blank content, and the next LLM node answers from nothing.
Handle that case with a Condition node right after, checking whether the extracted text came back empty.
Next steps
- Process each document separately with Logic.
- Extract identifiers from the text in CPF extractor.
