DuckDuckGo
Give the agent access to search on the public web.
The DuckDuckGo integration lets an Agent or Workflow search the web while answering.
It is the right tool when the question depends on public, current information, outside what is indexed in the Collections.
The tool
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
DuckDuckGo Search | Searches the web and returns the results. |
Fields
- Search: the term to search for. It accepts long text and usually comes from a flow variable or the user's question.
- Strip HTML: when on, it cleans the markup from the returned content. It is on by default, and keeping it that way reduces the noise that reaches the model.
When to use it
Web search greatly expands the Agent's reach, and with it the chance that it answers with something that never went through any curation.
Web results aren't a controlled source. In Agents that answer about internal policy or customer data, open search tends to hurt more than it helps: the model mixes the company's content with what it found on the internet.
For those cases, the prompt needs to be explicit about when to search and when to stay within the Collections.
Next steps
- Turn on the integration in the workspace in Overview.
- Use the tool inside a flow in Integration.
